Among the teams vying for the championship title are two teams from Ontario (Ontario and Northern Ontario), the defending champions from Team Canada, and three Wildcard teams. These Wildcard teams were chosen based on their ranking in the Canadian Team Ranking System, as they did not qualify by winning the 2022 Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Thunder Bay, Ontario, or a provincial or territorial championship.

Jones, on the other hand, led Canada to a gold medal at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, with Lawes as her third. In the current tournament in Kamloops, Jones is serving as the skip for Manitoba, while Lawes is at the helm of the first Wildcard team.

Homan, who previously clinched the gold medal for Canada in the 2017 World Women’s Curling Championship held in Beijing, is leading Team Ontario in the current competition.
